Wells Fargo Active Cash® Card review

Unlimited 2% cash rewards on everything, no categories to track and no annual fee. The card you reach for when nothing else earns more.

We are not a bank and we do not issue credit cards. Terms below come from Wells Fargo's published materials and were checked on August 27, 2026.

The verdict

The least demanding card in this comparison. There is nothing to activate and no calendar to follow, and 2% on everything beats what most category cards pay outside their bonuses. The 12-month intro window is shorter than the competition, so if you need time to pay something off, look at the Reflect instead.Jump to:The full review

Pros and cons

What we like

  • Flat 2% on every purchase, nothing to activate

  • $0 annual fee

  • Cell phone protection, unusual on a no-fee card

  • $200 bonus for a low spending requirement

What to watch

  • 12-month intro window, shorter than several rivals

  • 3% foreign transaction fee

  • No extended warranty coverage

  • No bonus categories, so heavy dining or grocery spenders can earn more elsewhere

The full review

The Active Cash pays unlimited 2% cash rewards on purchases. There are no quarterly categories, no activation and no caps, which makes it the simplest rewards card here and a reliable fallback whenever another card would earn less than 2%.

New cardholders get a $200 cash rewards bonus after spending $500 in the first three months, plus 0% intro APR for 12 months on purchases and qualifying balance transfers, after which 18.49%, 24.49% or 28.49% variable applies.

The extras are better than the price suggests, especially the phone coverage of up to $600 per claim when you pay your bill with the card. Weak points: the intro window is a year, where several no-fee rivals offer 15 months, and the 3% foreign transaction fee makes it a card to leave home when you travel.
